Metals and March Excitement

Wow, I cannot believe it is almost March. I am convinced the only way to make time slow down is to get on the treadmill. heh. I have been a busy bee in the metals studio. So far I have three ring styles and three necklace styles. I know, I know... I need to stop talking about them and get them up on the website. Soon, I hope!

I finally got a little organization going in my studio. It's not pretty but I put in a shelf for storage of all my beads and vintage trinkets. Does anyone else have the trouble with organizing that I do? It is just so hard!

Two things I am excited about in March... SXSW is happening in Austin and at the end of the month, I will be travelling to San Francisco for the Appel and Frank show. For more info check out the upcoming events page.

Lockets are neat.

Normally this time of year is kind of slow but this year I have been busy! I have been spending a lot of time working on my shelf in Parts and Labour, going by the store to check inventory, making new stuff for it and doing a little rearranging. It's an exciting new project! I made up a bunch of heart rings and necklaces for the Parts and Labour shelf. I don't know what got into me. I am not usually a hearts kind of person but this year I just got all excited about hearts. I started seeing them everywhere in my inventory when I was digging for other stuff.

I've also been making some artistic pieces as well, long necklaces with tassles which I hope to put up on the website soon. I have also been playing with some cloisonne pendants and a couple of lockets. I was amazed at the difference (you can see above) in the My Album locket after I cleaned it up. I bought these little lockets at Round Top last fall and used some of the techniques I have learned in metals class to shine them up. So pretty! I ended up putting the locket on a chain necklace paired with a recycled vintage heart shape. This necklace can be found at Parts and Labour. I should have taken a picture first!

In other news, my family is enjoying the excitement of a new car. We bought a Prius! It feels good to make a choice that is good for the environment. It drives so smoothly and has all kinds of neat little screens that show you how the car works. As my friend Sarah said, it is the car of the future!
