Whistle while you work...

I listened to this thing recently that was about how what you listen to when you are working affects what you do. Lately I have been listening to jazz music when I am making jewelry. It started with a bunch of Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Brad Meldau and stuff like that and then I added in some older jazz like Django Reinhardt and Sidney Bechet. The older jazz makes me feel really happy and energized.

When I am in business mode, like doing accounting, working on my website, packing orders or organizing my studio I listen to podcasts like Fair Game, Fresh Air or news from NPR. So, I was wondering what other people listen to when they work. Comment and let me know!

Hey Natalie... besides listening to Days of Our Lives while I "work", heh heh, I listen to This American Life- usually while doing website work. For awhile I was blasting Run DMC right before driving to yoga- it got me all amped up and ready to kick it in yoga. HA HA!!! You're lucky your line of work isn't so loud- my sewing machine over powers just about any other sound. That's why I watch reruns of tv shows I've seen before- I hear bits and pieces in between pressing the machine's pedal, and since I've usually seen the episode, I know what's going on when the machine is rumbling. Jazz = good. Check out Art Blakey, his music makes me crazy happy. Your website looks awesome by the way. Liz

Hmm...sometimes I make a playlist based on how I feel that day and just listen to that. Right now I can't stop listening to Neko Case's album Fox Confessor Brings the Flood. I've had it forever but just got into it for some reason. I get cranky if I'm trying to do something complicated and the music is too loud.
