Blog Mention, Jewelry Class and No Time!

Ornamental Things' cameo rings got mentioned on the Modish blog. What a great shopping blog. Check it out. They recommend only the best, apparently. ;)

Today I got super busy in jewelry class and got a bunch of waxes ready to cast in sterling silver. I won't be able to do it until next Wednesday's class but I promise you pictures. In the meantime, here is how that last class project turned out (remember, not my design!!):

The more I work with the silver, the more I get excited about metal jewelry. Someday I will bust out with a whole line of silver work. Just you wait.

I am so sorry I haven't posted any new stuff recently. Ever since jewelry class started, I have been scrambling for time! Putting up new jewelry is my top priority right now so stay tuned!

New Stuff

I dropped off some new jewelry at Eclectic today. Be sure to stop by there soon and take a look!

I have also been busy gathering some fun new materials. Last night I met with a friend who had some great vintage pieces. I came away with some beautiful enamel brooches. Today after going by Eclectic, I dropped by my friend, Lisa Crowder's studio and gallery, Flux and bought some gorgeous stone beads from her.

You know how I said my work desk would be covered before I knew it? Well, take a look:

(If you look close you can see some of my new goodies!)

Who's that?

Who is that new person in my photos? Why, it's my friend, Angie! I met Angie and her husband, Harold, a couple of years ago when they came into my booth at Wimberley. They were celebrating their wedding anniversary that weekend and purchased one of my necklaces. That was pretty special to me - I like it when my jewelry means something to someone. After that I kept running into Angie and Harold at other craft fairs and we would always chat. They are super cool people. Isn't she lovely? Thanks so much Angie!

New necklaces coming next week. Here is a sneak preview:

Jewelry Class!

I am back in jewelry class this week! I am taking Casting II this summer at the local community college, learning more about casting lovely pieces of jewelry in sterling silver. Above is a picture of a required project for the class. First we carve out the ring in this green wax and then we cast it in sterling silver using the lost wax method. I am very happy to be back in jewelry class and learning! I will keep you posted on what I make.
